    Default Introducing the "Binnekring"

The "Binnekring" is the executive committee that runs the AfrikaBurn project all year round. For 2008 it consists of four members: Paul Jorgensen, Monique Schiess, Robert Weinek and Mike Suss. All four contribute to the project as volunteers and are not paid for what they do. For Paul and Monique, this is almost a full-time job!

    Smile Mike Suss

    Hey everyone,

My real name is Michael 't Sas-Rolfes, but I call myself "Mike Suss" (it's easier!). I have participated in many dance events and festivals for more than a decade, as observer, dancefloor denizen, part-organizer, DJ or giraffe! I was particularly inspired by the Rustlers Easter Festival in 1998 and the earlier days of the Cape Town rave and trance party scene, and more recently by Burning Man in the USA, which I attended in 2006 and 2007. Burning Man 2006 was so awesome to me, that I felt compelled to help establish this amazing concept in South Africa.

I am presently one of three official Burning Man representatives in South Africa (along with Paul and Monique) and feel very privileged to be part of the team that is making AfrikaBurn happen. I hope that this online community forum will encourage better communication and information flow, increased discussion and constructive debate, thereby helping to build a really vibrant South African "burner" community!

Hi Everyone, this is Paul Jorgensen. I want to thank Mike for getting the forum up and running, there will clearly be some bugs to work out and in the meantime let's use it so that we may all find a easier way to get the wheels greased and moving at a consistent speed. I have attended 10 Burning Man Festivals. Numerous Regionals and am one of the three official Burning Man representatives in South Africa.
