Arrival times

Greetings and salutations!

This will be my first Afrikaburn (probably the first of many!) and I just have a question about arrival times.

The event starts on the 25th, but can one arrive after that date or do you have to be there for the duration of the event? I'm aware that you can't drive around so I was just wondering how this works in terms of people arriving and leaving?

Any time. Arrive too early and there'll be very few people on the playa. Arrive to late and you find find a good space.

Hi Halogen

You may be there for any duration of the event - but it is highly recommended to stay for the full duration. Every day / night has it's own atmosphere / personality. The first day is filled with arrivals but relative peace at night, second a lot of construction is going on, third the burns begin, parties kick into full swing, art surrounds you and by this time you have really welded yourself into the village. By the sixth day it feels you have been living there your whole life! But if you can't make it the full time - at least not just for a couple of days, try for a couple more.

You may drive to your camp, and when you pack up drive out. There are loads of mutant vehicles to get around, your feet, or highly recommended, bring a bicycle.
