Hi Korbat,
Is that Kora?
As a guideline, tickets this year were R300/R400/R500 depending on when you bought them, but will be slightly more next year. The official ticket announcement will be going out soon. The lower tiers sell out quickly, so if you haven't yet subscribed to the newsletter I suggest you go to www.afrikaburn.com and sign up!
Ciao,
Adriaan
yep sure is Kora!
Thanks, I just need to get an idea of price so I can get an idea of how likely it is that.. I.. go..
Actually, so since you have also been to NZ (or anyone else who has an opinion!!) how expensive is S.A? How much is a chocolate bar?
Say I go to the burn, and maybe do pre and post if it works out that way.. how much rand do you think I might need just for that time?? And do you think NZD has a good exchange rate? I have no idea how much 500R would normally get me! Would be greatful for some kind of guidence... Thanks comrades!
and yep sure have signed up to the newsletter!
Hey Kora, and welcome!
R500 = NZ$80 right now, if that's any help in your calculations.
Hi Kora,
I don't really eat chocolate, but a can of coke costs around R6.50. A dorm room in a backpackers will cost R150 to R200. I figure a basic budget of R500 (NZ$80) or more per day in Cape Town is reasonable, if you are staying in a dorm and doing some activities. Staying with friends or couch surfing will make it cheaper. I've rented out my house and am going roaming next year (including AfrikaBurn DPW!) otherwise you would have been welcome to stay at my place.
Being at the burn will cost less (maybe NZ$30 per day), especially if you organise a ride to the event, borrow camping gear and cook from scratch, or share cooking. Another possibility is to rent camping gear - see here for one option.
Are you going to be camping with the Nowhere folks?
Ciao,
Adriaan

Hi Kora and Adriaan
Us Nowhere folk are doing well and all chomping at the bit to get tickets, keep getting asked by our campers when they going to be on sale. We are now 20 strong and a mixture of South Africans/British/American/Swiss - think that's all hopefully haven't left a nation out!
Kora if you would like to camp with us you more than welcome just let me know.
Counting the months
Paula
