Default And the 2012 Theme is...

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the theme for AfrikaBurn 2012 is…drumroll...MIRAGE!

A big thank you to all who submitted their suggestions, the honours went to Mariella Rossi; here’s her take on the theme:

Mirage - a naturally occurring optical phenomenon in which light rays are bent to produce an illusion of water, people, or objects.
What is there? What is real? And what is pure imagination?
Is this a mirror of ourselves?
    A shimmering reflection. Temporary, transient.
We gather on that lively line where the hot earth meets an aloof sky, and this is where we dance, sing, rejoice.
But come quick, for if you wait too long, by the time you get there, we may be gone.

OK folks, so there it is - crank your creative cogs, wet your colourful brushes, get your creatives juices flowing and let your imagination run wild!

Art Grant submissions will open on September 15th - keep an eye on www.afrikaburn.com for more.

If you require info on Art, Theme Camps, Survival, Art Cars, Volunteering or have any topics you'd like to discuss, you're in the right place. Look around the forum and get involved.

AfrikaBurn is your event - you make it happen!

Must say I'm not sure what it means to me, Mirage.

Distance, a linear border, the future, hope. Illusion. Vision.

Well hell, we've got a big canvas!

    It is!
    Or is it?
    A shimmering chimera. A question. A promise.

    Default Not educated at all!!

    Greetings Burners!

Last year was my first Burn and it was such an experience that I'm still Burning.

I'm getting involved with a few projects and organising my crew to come along but would love to know how the Artwork and theme camps work with regards to logistics, grants, aims etc. I have a buddy that will do recycling, talking to Shani and the MOOP forum about it, but I want to get my ducks in a row with regards to expenses for the trucks moving art and MOOP back in the form of recycled cans, glass and such.

Where can I get the full contract to read the small print!?

Does anybody have the contact details of Mr Beer that ran the Tankwa Tyre and Technical Troopers. (The guy that fixed the tyres for us all!)

Look forward to hearing from you & meeting the locals at Equinox next weekend.
